Dedicated neighbors working together to support our community, protect our beaches, and preserve the Barrier Beach way of life.
The Barrier Beach Civic Association is led by a team of volunteers from across our beach communities. Each member brings their time, experience, and passion to ensure that our neighborhoods remain safe, sustainable, and connected.
Executive Board

Tara Moran
President
Years living at the Beach: 11 years
Favorite thing about living here: The unique beach community, the marine environment, and watching my daughter grow up in this place we are so lucky to call home.
Why did you volunteer to get actively involved? As a new resident I joined the BBCA as treasurer to meet new people and help however could. Ten years later, not only have I met some of my closet friends who are now like family, I’ve also enjoyed working towards building community amongst neighbors, and working with such an amazing group of people towards making a small difference.

Why did you volunteer to get actively involved? I’ve never lived somewhere with a community like this and I love being a part of our isolated private life. I love our little dog community!

Morgan Berk
Treasurer
Years living at the Beach: 6 years
Favorite thing about living here: Surfing, true community and the quiet peace of a deserted beach in the non-summer months.
Why did you volunteer to get actively involved? Through my home lift and renovation, I really got to know the Town of Babylon and NYSDEC processes, people and nuances that protect our pristine beach life and community. I am happy to share my learnings and resources with neighbors.

Favorite thing about living here: Actually, two things come to mind: the beauty of our location – on the bay, inlet and ocean – and the sense of community – the closeness and friendship – that most of us share.
Why did you volunteer to get actively involved? It’s a good opportunity to help maintain or improve our special way of life. Time and again, I’ve seen how participating at this level can make a difference.
